Fort Bend Bush defeats Spring in SQT at Dulles to earn a spot in the 7 on 7 state championship tournament
Fort Bend Bush got it done on both sides of the ball Saturday as Jessie Vaughn hauled in three touchdown passes and Micheal Mudoh had two interceptions to help lead the Broncos to a 33-22 win over Spring in the championship game of a 7 on 7 state qualifying tournament at Dulles High School Saturday.
Both teams earned a berth in the state tournament since the top two teams clinche a spot by making it to the championship game.
Jacquon Miles and Mark Wright helped lead the Fort Bend Bush offense by throwing three touchdown passes in the title game. Spring used a Kareen Shaw interception and a Paul Kopesky touchdown pass to score 14 first half points to stay within striking distance at the half trailing by just five points at 19-14.
Wright put the Broncos up 26-14 when he connected for the first second half score and that was followed with a Miles touchdown pass that pushed the lead out to 33-14.
Spring struggled to find the end zone in the second half managing just one touchdown on a Kopesky TD pass. Fort Bend Bush used a intense defensive effort to keep the Lions in check in the second half and earn the win.
