In the first quarter Cibolo Steele took advantage of a muffed punt by Dekaney to gain good field position and score first. Dekaney was eager to respond, maybe to eager, as they committed three consecutive false start penalties and a total of four over the course of five snaps.
There is nothing better to right the ship at a time when nothing seems to be going right than an exciting play. And that is what D'juan Hines delivered second later when he heaved a 40-yard touchdown pass to Austin Garrett to even the score up and settle his team down.
Dekaney not only settled down after a shaky start, the dominated the first half by scoring two more times while holding Steele scoreless.
Trey Williams did the damage on both touchdowns when he scored on a one yard run at the 2:26 mark of the second quarter and then followed that up with a 6 yard run a couple of minutes later to put the Dekaney lead at 20-7 going into halftime.
The defensive battle continued for most of the second half as both teams fought to gain the momentum. It would be Dekaney breaking though offensively as they picked up a pair of touchdowns in the second half to extend their lead.
One on a Trye Williams 24-yard run and the other on a D'Juan Hines to Sean Horn two yard touchdown pass. Cibolo Steele picked up a late score on a Tommy Armstrong to Matthew Mayle 25 yard touchdown pass.
Dekaney was led in rushing by Trey Williams with 197 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries.
Steele's Tommy Armstrong finished with 57 yards on 10 carries. He also passed for 101 yards on 8-of-18 attempts with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
