ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Round Rock Express escaped a ninth inning jam to come away with a one run 5-4 win over the Memphis Redbirds Saturday evening at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas. Memphis held a slim lead at 3-2 as the game moved into the bottom of the sixth inning before Round Rock's Joey Butler ignited a rally with a lead off home run. Brad Nelson then showed great patience at the plate by drawing a walk. That set the stage for designated hitter Robinzon Diaz and he delivered with a shot to left field for his third homer of the season and a 5-2 Express lead.

Memphis fought back and made some noise in the ninth inning when the Redbirds first two batters, Joey Butler and Adron Chambers, opened the inning with back-to-back singles. Tyler Greene stepped to the plate and was unable to come through for Memphis when he bounced into a double play leaving Memphis down to their last out. It was then up to Nick Stravinoha who connected for an RBI single and teammate Aaron Luna following with an infield single. A throwing error allowed both base runners to advance. Reliever Pedro Strop then settled down and squashed the Memphis rally with a game ending strike out.
