Cibolo Steele Proves to be to Much for Port Arthur Memorial in Playoff Matchup

HOUSTON --- The Port Arthur Memorial Titans (13-2) were unable to contain the Cibolo Steele Knights offense Saturday in Reliant Stadium as the Knights punched their ticket to the 5A Division II state championship game next weekend at Cowboys Stadium with a 51-31 win.

Justin Stockton and Tommy Armstrong paced the potent Knights offense as they proved to be a stiff challenge for the Titans who held La Porte's offense in check last week.

Steele's rushing attack steam rolled the Titans to the tune of 519 yards on the day. Stockton and Steele combined for 369 of those yards as the duo put on quite a show on the big stage at Reliant Stadium.
Port Arthur Memorial opened with a field goal early in the first quarter but it was all Knights after that as they put up 23 unanswered points.

Steele looked determine earn a trip back to Dallas after coming up short last year in the championship game and it looked like there was little the Titans could do about it. The Knights defense did a great job of keeping a very good Titans offense under wraps all game long.

Memorial quarterback Terrence Singleton scored the only Titan touchdown of the first half late in the second quarter on a four yard run to leave the score at 23-10 at halftime.

The Titans were unable to do much against a determined Steele team that moved the ball well on offense. The Knights proved they are a team to recon with next week in Arlington and they look like they have what it takes to challenge for the state title after dominating on both sides of the ball. They will take on Spring Dekaney next Saturday at 8 p.m. to decide the 5A Division II title.
