Baytown Sterling Turns in Solid Effort to Down Barbers Hill in Lee College Summer League Basketball

BAYOTWN, TEXAS - Baytown Sterling and Barbers Hill matched up in a Lee College Summer League game Thursday at Lee College in Baytown and Sterling used an all around solid effort to hold off Barber Hills to come away with a 64-61 win.

Neither team was able to make a run in the first quarter as they game stay closed. The biggest lead for either team was five points with Sterling clinging to a lead for most of the first half.

With about five minutes left in the first half, Sterling hit some keys shots to hold onto the lead while Barbers Hill worked to find a way to cut into the lead and move out in front before the close of the first half. Sterling was able to hold off any rally as they pushed the ball up the floor on each possession to keep the Barbers Hill defense on their heals.

The second half got off to a slow start before Sterling made a move late in the third quarter to lead by seven after Barbers Hill hit a couple of baskets as a result of some good ball movement. Barbers Hill was able to find a few creases in the Sterling defense and that helped them find some offensive success but Sterling quickly made some adjustments.

Both teams battled it out in the fourth quarter and and took turns stepping up to make key shots as the game shaped up to be a thriller going down ot the last couple of minutes.

As the clocked wound down under two minutes Barbers Hill was unable to convert on some important possessions while Sterling found some late success. Sterling kept the defensive pressure on one end and their offense made the big baskets in the end to seal a 64-61 win.
