Northeast Christian Scorches the Nets Early but Unable to Slow Baytown Sterling Late

BAYOTWN, TEXAS - Baytown Sterling found little success in stopping Northeast Christian's three point shooting, mainly in the first half, but used their athleticism to pull away in the second half to come away with a convincing win in Lee College Summer League action Thursday in Baytown.

Northeast Christian came out on the first quarter and spotted up time and time again for three point shots and seemed to hit all net just about everytime they launched a shot. That helped them build an early lead as Sterling looked to find some offensive rythym.

Northeast Christian simply pushed the ball up the floor in the first half and used their outside shooting to set the tempo in the first half of play. Sterling struggled to get back and pick up Northeast Christian's open shooters who were gaining confidence with every outside shot they made.

The second half slowly changed into a game of that would eventually be decided by athleticism. Sterling got busy on the boards knowing they needed every possession they could get in order to outscore Northeast Christian. While Northeast Christian tried to counter the Sterling rebounding, they also used a pesty defense to try and create some steals as Sterling worked the ball on offense hoping to take advantage of a light size advantage.

Sterling lossened up offensively as the second half continued and forced Northeast Christian to stop their offense that was led by a trio of extremely athletic players. Just as Northeast Christian built their momentum in the first half with their three point shooting, Sterling did the same in the fourth quarter with their amazing shooting.

Sterling turned it up offensively in the fourth quarter as they hit a number of tough shots from the field with defenders draped all over them. They also mixed in an occasional runner and some nifty low post scoring to pull away and come away with a double digit win.
