Port Arthur Memorial Blows Past La Porte in Reliant Stadium With Huge Second Half

HOUSTON -- La Porte (12-2) and Port Arthur Memorial (13-1) stepped onto the big stage a Reliant Stadium in the Texas High School Football Playoffs Saturday at Reliant Stadium and found themselves battling it out in a close game after one half but Port Arthur Memorial used a second half offensive surge to roll to a 34-6 win.

Both teams play in District 21-5A but La Porte held a all-time 5-0 record over the Titans. But this win was more than just a matter of picking up an elusive win, this win was huge and kept P.A. Memorial's state championship drive alive.

The Titan offense kept coming after La Porte as the Bulldogs struggled to hold off a fired up Titan team. P.A. Memorials effort paid off once again when Singleton led them on another scoring drive that went for 64-yards with Singleton finishing things off with a nifty 21-yard run to put the Bulldogs in a 24-6 hole with just over three minutes left in the third quarter.

It was anybodies game going into the half as P.A. Memorial held a 10-6 lead after two quarters of play. Bulldog field goal kicker Eric Medina help keep things close with his two first half field goals.

Jhajuan Seales used his speed to help P.A. Memorial build on their lead in the third quarter when he raced past the La Porte defense on a 78-yard touchdown pass from Terrence Singleton. The scoring play seemed to ignite the Titans as their defense got after the Bulldogs and their offense starting clicking.
Singleton seemed to take matters into his own hands as he got loose on a 34-yard touchdown run a couple of minutes later to push the Titan lead out to 31-6.

The Bulldogs proved to be no match for the Titans backfield. Singleton would go on to finish with 72 yards rushing and 229 yards passing as he completed 20-of-40 attempts. Teammate Nate Holmes totaled 229 yards rushing on 15 carries.
