Johnson City Eagles Ride Strong Pitching Performance by Dylan Carter to Open Playoff Series With a Shutout of Mart

AUSTIN, TEXAS - It took a few innings for the Johnson City Eagles to get a read on Mart pitching but once they did the Eagles bats came to life while starting pitcher Dylan Carter took care of business on the mound allowing Johnson City to open the best of three series with a 5-0 win.

The Eagles broke through in the bottom half of the fourth inning with a pair of runs to take a 2-0 lead as the game headed

into the fifth inning. At the plate Mart found the going tough against Carter who was mixing up his pitches and hitting his spots well.

Johnson City got their bats going again in the fifth inning as they plated three runs in their half of the frame for a 5-0 lead.

Mart hitters where hoping to find a solution to Carter but he continued his success on the mound as he used a variety of pitches to baffle the Mart offense.

Each time Mart would get some traffic on the base paths the Eagles would come up with an outstanding defensive play. Mart

had a couple of chances to put a run on the board but each time Johnson City would come through by gunning down the runner at the plate.

Carter issued a two out walk in the seventh inning but settled down to get the final out to earn the win in a 5-0 shutout.

Johnson City scored their five runs on six hits. Carter limited the Mart offense to five hits in his shutout effort. Each team committed two errors.

Both teams will take the field Saturday at Concordia University in Austin for game two of their playoff series.
