Friendswood Girls Basketball Uses a Big Second Half to Down Galveston Ball

GALVESTON - The Friendswood Girls Basketball turned in a huge second half Friday to defeat Galveston Ball 75-46 and earn a big district win on the road.

Both teams battled early on as neither team was unable to build much of a lead in the first half but it was Friendswood who found themselves with the lead going into halftime. With only one loss in district, Friendswood (15-9, 7-1)  looked to make some adjustments at half time and claim another win as they came out in the second half.

The Mustangs got things rolling offensively in the second half as they used good ball movement on offense and their size advantage down low to control the boards and build on their lead.

With their defense creating havoc for Galveston (12-16, 3-7), and their offense hitting on all cylinders, the Mustangs kept the pressure on as they pushed their lead out to 20 points before eventually coming away with a 75-46 win.

Friendswood was led by Kellsey Kaufhold with 27 points. Jill Bergeson scored 18 and teammate Skylar Murphy finised with 12.

Ball's Taylor Mitchell totalled 17 points and Caroline Spagnola tallied 15 points.
