The Frisco RoughRiders open homestand with a 7-6 come from behind win over Tulsa

The Frisco RoughRiders used six pitchers Wednesday night to defeat the Tulsa Drillers 7-6 at Dr. Pepper Field in
Frisco.

RoughRiders starter Martin Perez got off to a rough start as Tulsa picked up two runs in the first inning behind
a two out walk and a Cole Garner home run put the Drillers up 2-0. Tulsa picked up another run in the third inning when Mike Paulk walked and Cole picked up his third RBI of the game with a double down the right field line.

Frisco got things rolling in the fourth inning when Chad Tracy came up with a one out single and John Whittleman followed with a walk. Jonathan Greene then stepped to the plate and tied the game up with one swing of the bat as he sent a towering shot over the left field fence to tie the game up at 3-3.

Beau Vaughan came on in relief of Perez in the fourth inning and retired the side in order but ran into trouble in the fifth. Michael McKenry drew a lead off walk for Tulsa in the fifth inning and moved to second on a wild pitch. Jeff Kindel then doubled allowing McKenry to score. With two outs, Kindel raced home on a Rex Rundgren single to center and that would be all for Vaughan as Corey Young came on in relief and picked up the last out of the inning after issuing a two out walk.

Chad Tracy led off the bottom half of the sixth with a home run for Frisco which cut the Drillers lead to 5-4. Frisco took the lead in the eight inning after Dustin Majewski lead off with a walk and Tulsa's Shane Lindsay hit John Whittleman with a pitch. After a wild pitch that put runners at second and third, Majewski came across to score on a sacrifice fly which led to a Tulsa pitching change as Matthew Reynolds replaced Shane Lindsay. Steve Murphy greeted Lindsay with an RBI single to right that chased home Whittleman and gave Frisco the 6-5 lead heading into the ninth inning.

Zachry Phillips came on in relief for Frisco as he looked to close it out for the RoughRiders but after opening the inning with a strikeout he issued a walk to Cole Garner and one out later uncorked a wild pitch that put Cole at third with the potential tying run. Jeff Kindel took full advantage for Tulsa as he came up with an infield single allowing Cole to come across to tie the game up at 6-6. Clayton Hamilton was then called on to relieve Phillips and picked up the final out of the inning and give the RoughRiders a shot to win it in the bottom of the ninth.

And that is just what they did. Renny Osuna drew a lead off walk and then moved to second on a Guilder Rodriquez sacrifice bunt. Craig Gentry then popped out setting the stage for Majewski who delivered with a two out line drive single to left sending Osuna home with the winning run for Frisco as they claimed the 7-6 win.
