Dobie Powers Past Alvin With a Strong Rushing Attack

PASADENA - Alvin (0-1) was able to score first Saturday evening at Pasadena's Memorial Stadium, and held a 7-6 lead after the first quarter of play, but their defense could not hold off the Dobie Longhorns (2-0) offense as they rolled up 371 yards rushing to power their way to a 48-27 non-district win.

Alvin looked to establish their running game early and had some success in doing so but Dobie was able to keep the Alvin defense on their heels most of the night as they used a trio of running backs to wear down the Yellowjackets defense.

Alvin's defense had some fourth quarter success and their offense used a Corey Jackson 3-yard touchdown run to cut into the Dobie lead once again at the 7:01 mark of the fourth quarter.

Leading 27-35, the Dobie offense went back to work and Deandre Bolden canpped of a  fourth quarter drive with a 1-yards plunge at the 3:27 mark to push their lead out to 27-41. The Longhorn defense then helped seal the 48-27 win minutes later when they forced an Alvin fumble that was recovered by Kerry Henderson who raced 77-yards for a Dobie touchdown with just over a minute left in the game. Dobie totalled 472 yards of offense to Alvin's 231. Alvin forced 5 Longhorn fumbles and managed to recover four of them.

His first came on a 32-yard run at the 8:19 mark and he followed that with a 34-yard touchdown run with 5:51 left in the quarter to leave the score at 35-14.
