The Dayton Broncos Jump All Over Magnolia West Early in Convincing Win

The Dayton Broncos (9-3) offenses set the tone early by using their quick strike offense to grab an early lead and roll past Magnolia West by a score of 41-23 in the Region III-4A area playoffs at Galena Park ISD Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Broncos offense put Magnolia West back on their heals from the onset as Dayton quarterback Anres Herrera tossed a 3-yard touchdown pass to Gamal Fowler. Ryan McBride followed that up with a two-yard touchdown run and Juan Carranco kicked a 32-yard field goal to put the Broncos out to a 17-0 lead before the first quarter was over.

Richards helped the Mustangs cut into the Broncos lead minutes later when he powered his way into the end zone from three yards out with just under five minutes left in the half leaving the Broncos up 24-9.

The Magnolia West Mustangs (9-3) were coming off thier first playoff win ever in the schools brief history but found themselves dealing with a Dayton team that has a pretty impressive playoff resume. The Mustangs did find some success on the ground with running back Desmond Richards racking up 186 yards rushing with a pair of touchdowns but the Broncos came out red hot by putting up the 17 unanswered points and the Mustangs never recovered.

Even though Richards was able to run the ball effectively, the Mustangs were not able to score until the 9:42 mark of the second quarter when Andrew Struthers sent a 26-yard field goal attempt threw the uprights.
Harrera came right back and hit Armando Reyes on a 81-yard touchdown pass as the Broncos just kept on rolling.
Dayton went back to work and put the game out of reach by exploding for 17 straight points as Herrera connect for two touchdown passes and Carranco booted a 44-yard field goal.

Magnolia West kept battling and Richards helped by outrunning the Bronco defense on a 76-yard touchdown run as the third quarter expired. Anthony Ojeda helped make the score respectful when he scored on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter but when it was all over it was Dayton advancing to the Region III-4A semifinals against Manvel next week.
